ALTER

The Project

ALTER - this is a public space that offers free sports and cultural activities, as well as a kiosk, which provides a place to linger and have fun. The former parking lot between the beer garden "Alter Bahnhof" and the cheap supermarket "Lidl" has been transformed into a recreational area that is particularly popular with children and young people.

The principle: Everyone is welcome and nobody should be forced to consume here. ALTER is neither exclusive nor profit-oriented. With this rule of thumb, the area tears down social barriers and gives the Neckar city what it urgently needs: public sports and activity areas that are jointly used and shaped by different milieus.

The project is an interim use planned for 3-5 years, which has been started up with a lot of civil society commitment and is sponsored by a non-profit organisation (POW! e.V.). In a very short time, a space of fear and problems was transformed into a place that residents - especially children - love and occupy leisurely.

What is Socialmatch?

Socialmatch stands for a unique series of events in bars where you meet new people in a board game created by the founders.

The game is a good mix of questions, action tasks and fun entertainment that you master alone or in teams. One person can participate in the events with up to 2 friends, the number of participants per event is between six and ten people.

We pay attention to a balanced ratio of women and men. One of our game leaders will inform you about the course and guide you and the other participants through the evening.

Bouldern

Even in bad weather many people would like to do sports, but their choice is limited.

One thing that you can definitely do and that brings a lot of fun is bouldering. Basically bouldering is similar to classic climbing in many respects, but you don't need a safety device when bouldering. Nevertheless, you don't really endanger yourself, because the hall floor is always designed to cushion falls and it doesn't reach as high as climbing.

With the Boulder Island and the Boulderhaus in Mannheim, there are two good addresses that are highly recommended.
